24/10/ 2019/ New York.- Irony, Madness, War: 17 paintings in a group of 30 are devoted to the ironic, the manic abuse of high authority – the madness of war. They are not elegant landscapes, comforting still lifes, or ambiguous abstractions that can never speak as do these starkly realistic and visceral images that provoke and maybe even inspire.
17 cuadros en un grupo de 30 están dedicados a lo irónico, el abuso maníaco de la alta autoridad: la locura de la guerra. No son paisajes elegantes, bodegones reconfortantes o abstracciones ambiguas que nunca pueden hablar como lo hacen estas imágenes crudamente realistas y viscerales que provocan e incluso inspiran.
The Artist: This solo exhibition is the work of legendary art director, Amil Gargano, who began the serious study of art at the age of 9 and continued through his post graduate education at the preeminent Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. That study began directly after his return from the Korean War, which became the catalyst for this exhibition.
Quien es el artista: Esta exposición individual es obra del legendario director de arte, Amil Gargano, quien comenzó el estudio serio del arte a la edad de 9 años y continuó su educación de posgrado en la preeminente Academia de Arte Cranbrook en Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Estudio comenzó directamente después de su regreso de la Guerra de Corea, y se convirtió en el catalizador de esta exposición.
In 1955, to avoid starving, he accepted what he thought would be a temporary job in advertising. Then spent the next 45 years appling his art to advertising that could use all the help it could get. In the past 18 years, he has devoted his time to what he has spent his early life preparing to do: painting. This exhibition is unlike no other.
En 1955, para evitar morir de hambre, aceptó lo que pensó que sería un trabajo temporal en publicidad, pasando los siguientes 45 años aplicando su arte a la publicidad.
